Marvel Rivals Addresses Low FPS Damage Issue Affecting Several Heroes

Players of Marvel Rivals experiencing reduced damage output at lower FPS settings (particularly 30 FPS) can breathe a sigh of relief. The developers have acknowledged a bug impacting damage calculations for certain heroes, including Dr. Strange and Wolverine, at these lower frame rates.

This issue, affecting heroes like Magik, Star-Lord, and Venom as well, manifests as decreased damage on some or all attacks when the game runs below 60 or 120 FPS. Community reports highlighted the problem, prompting confirmation from a community manager on the official Discord server. The manager explained that lower frame rates cause movement inconsistencies, which in turn affect damage dealt. While a precise fix date isn't available, the upcoming Season 1 launch on January 11th is expected to address this.

Launched in early December 2025, Marvel Rivals has enjoyed significant success, boasting an 80% player approval rating on Steam based on over 132,000 reviews. Despite initial concerns regarding hero balance, the game's popularity remains strong.

The root of the problem appears to lie within the game's client-side prediction mechanism, a common programming technique to minimize perceived lag. While not all affected heroes and abilities have been officially listed, Wolverine's Feral Leap and Savage Claw abilities are confirmed examples. The effects are more pronounced against stationary targets than during dynamic gameplay.

Should the Season 1 update not completely resolve the issue, the developers have assured players that a future update will fully address the 30 FPS damage bug. The team's proactive response and commitment to fixing this problem demonstrate their dedication to providing a balanced and enjoyable gameplay experience for all players.
