Sony and Firewalk Studios unveil Concord's post-launch roadmap, highlighting a content-rich future for the hero shooter launching August 23rd on PS5 and PC. Unlike many competitors, Concord eschews a battle pass system, prioritizing rewarding gameplay through progression and completing in-game objectives.

Concord's launch marks only the beginning of a journey filled with continuous updates. Game director Ryan Ellis details a seasonal content rollout, starting with Season 1: The Tempest in October. This update introduces a new Freegunner character, a fresh map, additional character variants, enhanced cosmetics, and weekly cinematic vignettes enriching the Northstar crew narrative. An in-game store will also debut, offering purely cosmetic items with no gameplay impact. Season 2 is planned for January 2025, promising consistent seasonal content throughout Concord's first year.

Ellis also provides gameplay insights, emphasizing Concord's unique "Crew Builder" system. Players curate teams of five Freegunners, with the ability to include up to three copies of a character's variants. This fosters strategic team composition tailored to individual playstyles and match challenges. While roles are not defined by traditional archetypes like Tank or Support, Freegunners are categorized into six impactful roles (Anchor, Breacher, Haunt, Ranger, Tactician, and Warden), each influencing the match differently. Balancing diverse roles unlocks Crew Bonuses, offering significant advantages like enhanced mobility and reduced cooldowns. The focus is on high DPS and effective gunplay across all characters. The absence of traditional roles encourages dynamic team compositions and strategic gameplay.
