Elden Ring: Nightreign will remove an iconic feature of the last game. Why won't players be able to leave messages?
Elden Ring: Nightreign will omit the in-game messaging feature previously seen in FromSoftware titles. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision in a recent interview, citing the game's shorter play sessions. With each Nightreign session lasting approximately forty minutes, there's insufficient time for players to effectively leave or read messages.
"Due to the roughly forty-minute session length, there isn't enough time for sending or reading messages; hence, we disabled the feature," Ishizaki stated.
This choice marks a departure from FromSoftware's tradition of incorporating message-based player interaction, a feature often praised for enhancing gameplay experience and community engagement. However, the development team deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's design.
To maintain the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features a separate storyline. The game promises a fresh adventure with distinct challenges and encounters, while retaining the signature atmosphere and complex world design of Elden Ring.
