PSA: Days Gone Remastered $10 PS5 Upgrade Not Available for Game Redemptions via PS Plus
Days Gone Remastered, a highlight of Sony's recent State of Play presentation, has sparked controversy among PlayStation Plus subscribers due to its $10 upgrade policy.
Sony's $10 upgrade path to the PlayStation 5 remaster is exclusively available to owners of the PlayStation 4 disc or digital version of Days Gone. This excludes those who acquired the game through PlayStation Plus, either via the now-defunct PS Plus Collection or the April 2021 Essential monthly offering.
Consequently, PS Plus subscribers must pay the full $49.99 price for the PS5 remaster. This has led to widespread online complaints from subscribers who expressed willingness to pay the $10 upgrade but will now forgo the game altogether.
A PlayStation Plus subreddit post showcases numerous comments echoing this sentiment. Users highlight the potential lost revenue from this decision, suggesting many would have paid the smaller fee to try the remastered version. One user, squarejellyfish_, commented, "They would actually have made a decent chunk of change if PS Plus players were eligible..." Another, teckn9ne79, added, "I will stick with the one I got." The general consensus among many is that the policy is short-sighted and financially unwise. Several users pointed out that Sony essentially gave away the game for free previously, effectively forgoing an additional $10 per player.
Days Gone Remastered wasn't the only PlayStation game unveiled at State of Play. For a complete overview of the February 2025 announcements, refer to IGN's State of Play roundup.
