Proxi, The Sims Creator's New Game, Has More Details Revealed

Will Wright, creator of The Sims, recently offered a deeper look into his new AI-powered life simulation game, Proxi, during a Twitch livestream with BreakthroughT1D. This follows the release of a "not-a-trailer-trailer" last month. The game, developed by Gallium Studio, is shaping up to be a unique experience focused on interactive memories.

A More Personal Simulation

The livestream, part of BreakthroughT1D's Dev Diaries series, provided insights into Proxi's core mechanics. Players input personal memories as text, which the game then transforms into animated scenes. These scenes, or "mems," are customizable using in-game assets for a more accurate representation of the memory.

Each added mem trains the game's AI, expanding the player's "mind world"—a 3D environment where memories are visualized as hexagons. This world populates with Proxies representing friends and family as more memories are added. Memories are arranged chronologically and linked to Proxies, reflecting the people and events within each recollection. Remarkably, Proxies can even be exported to other game platforms like Minecraft and Roblox.

Wright emphasized Proxi's focus on creating "magical connections" with memories. He aimed for a deeply personal experience, stating, "I found myself getting continuously closer and closer to the player...the more I can make a game about you, the more you'll like it."

Proxi is now featured on Gallium Studio's website, with platform announcements pending.
