Ingenious Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Players Are Using Deadly Bouncing Blades to Kill Hapless Campers From Outside the Map

Author : Scarlett Update : Mar 18,2025

In the competitive multiplayer arena of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, countless final kills are captured and shared online, but few are as remarkable as this one.

The D1.3 Sector secondary weapon's unique Ricochet Blades ammo, introduced during last month's controversial Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles event, quickly became a topic of conversation due to its unpredictable, multi-surface bouncing trajectory. Players affectionately nicknamed them "pizzas."

Player kev99gh captured and shared a spectacular final kill in a hardcore Search and Destroy match on the Lowtown map. The kill involved a Ricochet Blade bouncing out of the map, then back in, for a one-hit kill on an unsuspecting enemy peeking from a window.

kev99gh's incredible clip is arguably the longest Ricochet Blade kill ever recorded, due to the blade's excursion beyond the map's boundaries. The video shows kev99gh lining up the shot from cover, firing blindly, and then switching to the overhead map view to track the blade's trajectory as it arcs along the map edge before returning to eliminate the enemy.

These elaborate, seemingly improbable shots aren't just luck. Redditor SpawnTubing, who posted kev99gh's clip, explained that the Black Ops 6 community "look for and practice common camping spots." Commenters also noted the impeccable timing of the enemy player peeking just as the "pizza" flew through the window—a scenario familiar to many Black Ops 6 players.

The Ricochet Blades have spawned a sort of "bounce kill" meta, with numerous (though less impressive) kills from various multiplayer maps surfacing online. Some kills, like the one below, involve multiple bounces before reaching their target.

However, not all players are thrilled. Some find the bouncing blades frustrating and annoying. These players will be disappointed to learn that developer Treyarch recently buffed the Ricochet Blades' physics and bouncing speeds, ensuring one-hit kills on contact. The relevant patch notes are:

D1.3 Sector

Our initial design for the D1.3 Sector Ricochet Blades revolved around quickly launching many high-speed blades, meant to perform best blind firing into enclosed spaces. We have been following your feedback and agree that, in practice, the use cases for this ammo type are too low. The Ricochet Blades will now do 100 damage to enable one-hit kills, and to compensate we are lowering the fire rate and projectile speed. We think the popularity of this ammo type will see some new interest with these changes and look forward to seeing more of your cross-map killcams in MP.

Ricochet Blades

  • Increased damage from 75 to 100.
  • Decreased rate of fire.
  • Decreased projectile velocity.
  • Improved bouncing speeds and physics.

With Season 3 and Verdansk's anticipated return to Warzone on the horizon, the reign of the Ricochet Blades appears poised to intensify.
