Piston requires a separate ELM327-based adapter (Bluetooth or WiFi) to function as a car scanner. It supports OBD-II (OBDII, OBD2) and EOBD standards. For US vehicles, OBD2 compliance is mandatory for models from 1996 onwards. In the EU, EOBD was mandated for petrol cars from 2001 and diesel cars from 2004. Australian and New Zealand petrol cars from 2006 and diesel cars from 2007 also adhere to OBD2.

Important: Piston only accesses data supported and provided by your vehicle's OBD2 system.
