Sony's Hit Game Helldivers 2 Gets the Hollywood Treatment

At CES 2025, Sony unveiled plans for a film adaptation of its massively successful game, Helldivers 2. The project is a collaborative effort between PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures.

Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions, made the exciting announcement: "We're thrilled to confirm that we've commenced development on a movie based on our incredibly popular Helldivers 2." While specifics remain under wraps, fans can anticipate spectacular space battles brought to life on the silver screen.

Developed by Arrowhead Studios, Helldivers 2 is a captivating shooter, drawing inspiration from the classic Star Troopers franchise. The game achieved phenomenal success, becoming PlayStation Studios' fastest-selling title, boasting 12 million copies sold within its first 12 weeks. Its popularity surged even further with the Illuminate update, reintroducing a beloved enemy faction from the original Helldivers.

Adding to the excitement, a Horizon Zero Dawn movie is also in the works, a joint venture between PlayStation Studios and Columbia Pictures – the studio behind the successful 2022 Uncharted adaptation.

Qizilbash offered a sneak peek into the Horizon Zero Dawn project: "We're in the early stages of the Horizon Zero Dawn film, but we can assure audiences that this world and its characters will receive their first-ever cinematic presentation."
