Marvel Rivals Season 1: A New York City Nightscape of Maps
Marvel Rivals Season 1 continues to expand its offerings with a wave of new content. Beyond the addition of Fantastic Four heroes and cosmetic items, the game introduces several maps themed around a nocturnal New York City. Let's explore each new map in detail.
Table of Contents
- Empire of Eternal Night: Midtown
- Empire of Eternal Night: The Mystical Sanctum Santorum
- Empire of Eternal Night: Central Park
Empire of Eternal Night: Midtown
Launching alongside Season 1, Empire of Eternal Night: Midtown is a Convoy map, specifically designed for Marvel Rivals' payload-style game mode. Players engage in a tug-of-war, either escorting or intercepting a moving vehicle across the map. This map joins Yggsgard: Yggdrasill Path and Tokyo 2099: Spider-Islands as the third Convoy map in the game. Midtown depicts a New York City shrouded in the darkness of Dracula's Blood Moon, incorporating iconic Marvel locations and real-world Midtown Manhattan landmarks:
- Baxter Building
- Grand Central Terminal
- Stark/Avengers Tower
- Fisk Tower
- Ardmore's Bookstore
- Timely Trend
Empire of Eternal Night: The Mystical Sanctum Santorum
This unique, nocturnal version of Doctor Strange's Sanctum Santorum is the sole map currently featuring the Doom Match mode. Doom Match is a free-for-all deathmatch where players battle for survival and elimination. Top-ranking players earn victories, with the highest-scoring player crowned MVP.
The Sanctum Santorum is a meticulously crafted representation of Doctor Strange's mystical headquarters, first introduced in a 1963 comic and famously featured in the MCU. In Marvel Rivals, it serves as Earth's supernatural defense against the Empire of Eternal Night. The map is replete with hidden secrets, impossible architecture, portals, and even a visitable Bats the Ghost Dog.
Empire of Eternal Night: Central Park
Expected to arrive later in Season 1, Empire of Eternal Night: Central Park remains somewhat mysterious. However, it's anticipated to center around a stylized Belvedere Castle, situated at one of the park's highest points. This Gothic structure provides a fitting backdrop for the Empire of Eternal Night theme, potentially serving as a hideout for Dracula within the game's version of Central Park.
These are all the confirmed new maps for Marvel Rivals Season 1.
