Obsidian RPG Avowed Can Hit 60FPS on Xbox Series X
Obsidian's Avowed: 60fps on Xbox Series X Confirmed, Series S Locked at 30fps
Avowed, Obsidian Entertainment's highly anticipated RPG, will achieve a frame rate of up to 60 frames per second on the Xbox Series X, according to game director Carrie Patel in a MinnMax interview. While she didn't elaborate on specifics, the confirmation clarifies previous reports. The Xbox Series S version, however, remains capped at 30fps.
Whether Avowed will offer selectable performance and graphics modes (60fps with lower visuals versus 30fps with enhanced visuals) remains unclear. It's possible the 60fps target is the default setting for the Series X.
The game's release date features a staggered rollout based on edition pricing. The premium edition, priced at $89.99, launches on February 13th, while the standard edition ($69.99) arrives on February 18th. This pricing strategy, while becoming increasingly common, has already been abandoned by some publishers like Ubisoft.
Set within the Pillars of Eternity universe, Avowed is a first-person fantasy RPG emphasizing player choice and agency. Players will unravel mysteries, forge alliances or rivalries, and navigate a world steeped in war and intrigue.
IGN's final preview lauded the game's engaging conversations, substantial player freedom, and overall enjoyable experience, describing it as "just a lot of fun."
