Indus picks up five million downloads and concludes first international playtest in Manila
Indus, the Indian-made battle royale shooter, has achieved a significant milestone with over five million Android downloads and over 100,000 iOS downloads within just two months of its release. This success follows a Google Play Best Made in India Game 2024 award and a successful international playtest in Manila.
This rapid growth positions Indus as a leading contender in the Indian gaming market, challenging competitors like FAU-G: Domination. The Manila playtest at the YGG Play Summit provided valuable feedback and exposure, showcasing the game to international esports players.
SuperGaming, the developer behind Indus, is actively pursuing esports dominance with the launch of the Clutch India Movement. This initiative features the Indus International Tournament, a competition running from October 2024 to February 2025, boasting a substantial INR 2.5 crore (approximately $31,000) prize pool.
Impressive Growth, Further Ambitions
While the five million downloads are impressive, they fall slightly short of the initial ten million pre-registrations. However, it's important to note that pre-registrations often don't fully translate to actual downloads. The relatively low iOS download count also suggests a need to further penetrate that market segment.
Despite this, SuperGaming's swift implementation of international playtests and an esports tournament demonstrates their ambitious vision for Indus's future. The company clearly intends to establish Indus as a major player in the global gaming landscape.
