During an interview with IGN at Gamescom, Ed Boon addressed fan concerns about the potential overlap in combat styles between Homelander and Omni-Man. Boon reassured fans that the developers are taking a thoughtful approach to differentiate these characters, ensuring players feel they are controlling two unique heroes.

Boon explained that the creative freedom granted to the team allows for diverse implementations of character abilities. He emphasized their intention to avoid duplicating Superman-esque powers, stating, "Obviously, we could do anything with the characters, but I don’t think we’re going to have both Homelander and Omni-Man have heat vision or something like that."

Further elaborating on the characters, Boon mentioned how the team drew inspiration from the heroes' actions in their respective shows to craft their Fatalities. He stressed that the main attacks will significantly differentiate Homelander and Omni-Man, addressing any assumptions that they might be similar characters. "They’re definitely going to play differently. The main attacks are going to really differentiate them, but we’re definitely aware of the assumption that some people were making on, ‘Oh, they’re just going to be the same characters.'"
