Ninja Gaiden 2 Black Update: New Game Plus and More Added
Team Ninja has unveiled a substantial update for Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, pushing the game to version 1.0.7.0. This patch introduces several eagerly awaited features including New Game Plus, Photo Mode, and more, fulfilling promises made in response to fan feedback earlier in January. It's now accessible on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store.
New Game Plus allows players to embark on a new journey at any difficulty level they've previously conquered, carrying over their acquired weapons and Ninpo. However, these items will start at Level 1, and players cannot directly leap to a higher difficulty using this mode.
A new quality-of-life feature enables players to hide the projectile weapon on their character's back. This can be toggled in the Game Settings under the Options menu with the "Show Projectile Weapon" option.
In terms of gameplay balance, Team Ninja has adjusted enemy Hit Points, reducing them in Chapters 8 and 11, while increasing the number of enemies in Chapters 13 and 14. Additionally, some of Ayane's attacks now deal more damage.
The update also includes several bug fixes, addressing issues like control problems on high-powered PCs, game-breaking bugs in specific chapters, and crashes during extended play sessions. The complete patch notes are detailed below.
Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, which surprised fans with its announcement during the January Xbox Developer Direct, is an enhanced iteration of the classic action game, rebuilt using Unreal Engine 5. This upgrade not only improves the visual fidelity but also introduces new playable characters and enhances battle support features.
In our review, IGN awarded Ninja Gaiden 2 Black an 8/10, noting, "While the game may feature fewer enemies with increased health, it's a stunning and significant improvement over its Sigma 2 counterpart, maintaining its status as an exceptional action game."
