Complete Assassin's Creed Shadows Tournament for "Test Your Might" Achievement
In *Assassin’s Creed Shadows*, The Tournament is a thrilling source of XP, awards an achievement, and is an exhilarating challenge. Here’s a detailed guide on how to conquer The Tournament and earn the “Test Your Might” trophy in *Assassin’s Creed Shadows*.
How To Unlock and Find The Tournament in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
In *Assassin’s Creed Shadows*, The Tournament quest is initiated by Gyoji, a resident of Yamato. After you’ve taken down several members of The Shinbakufu, Gyoji will be waiting outside your hideout, eager to discuss the tournament. This clandestine fighting arena is situated in Southeastern Yamato at the Ominesanji Temple. To the west of the area, there's a viewpoint called the Ominesanji Overlook, where you can synchronize and establish a fast travel point. We highly recommend doing this for easy returns and character switching if necessary.
Upon reaching the Ominesanji Temple, engage with Gyoji again. He will explain that you need to win four one-on-one duels before facing the ultimate champion. Following the cutscene, you can ring the bell to start the first fight.
How to Complete The Tournament in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
The Tournament features a series of intense, life-or-death duels. Thankfully, you can take breaks between fights, allowing you to heal with rations and upgrade your weapons and armor as needed. Just ring the bell to initiate the next fight when you're ready.
To triumph over each opponent in The Tournament, we recommend wielding a long katana as Yasuke and mastering the art of dodging and parrying to exploit their vulnerabilities. Utilize abilities like Power Dash and Payback whenever you have sufficient adrenaline. Knowing the weapons each fighter uses can also give you an edge:
- Lady Masago wields a Naginata.
- Lord Suguru uses a Katana.
- Lord Hokuto employs a Kanabo.
- Lady O-Sen fights with two Poison Katanas and throws ranged items.
- Lord Unkai uses a Naginata and can heal if you stay too far away for too long.
After defeating all opponents, speak with Gyoji once more atop the hill. He will express his gratitude for his newfound freedom and promise to contact you for future tournaments. The “Test Your Might” trophy should unlock during this conversation.
Best Loadout and Skills for Tournaments in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
For The Tournament, the Long Katana is the weapon of choice. Opt for the highest rarity available and upgrade it to its maximum potential at the blacksmith. Engravings that boost Armor Damage or Armor Piercing are highly beneficial. Your armor selection is crucial, as it not only enhances your health but can also provide combat-altering engravings.
Before entering The Tournament, ensure you’ve unlocked the Samurai Daimyo Armor of Legend by defeating The Ox, a member of The Shinbakufu. Additionally, acquire the Protector’s Armor by completing a Castle quest. The former provides a 75% damage increase at the cost of limiting your health to 25%, while the latter enables you to parry unblockable attacks. Combining these engravings into a single armor set allows you to dispatch tournament foes swiftly, provided you parry effectively and frequently.
Invest your Mastery points into the Long Katana and Samurai skill trees. Prioritize maxing out Combat Expert to boost your melee damage, and unlock Power Dash and Payback to enhance your combat prowess.
*Assassin’s Creed Shadows* is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on March 20th.
