Silent Hill f Banned in Australia
The much-anticipated Silent Hill f will not see a release in Australia due to its rating by the Australian Classification Board. The board has assigned Silent Hill f a "Refused Classification" rating, effectively banning the game within the country.
The now-private publication post, which was initially shared by several outlets, offered scant details on the reasons behind this stringent rating. According to the Australian Classification Board's website, "Refused Classification (RC) refers to films, computer games, and publications that cannot be sold, hired, advertised, or legally imported in Australia." Such materials are deemed to contain "content that is outside generally-accepted community standards and exceeds what can be included in the R 18+ and X 18+ ratings."
Contrastingly, the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) in the United States gave Silent Hill f a "Mature 17+" rating, citing content that includes blood and gore, intense violence, and partial nudity. The ESRB's rating summary elaborates on the reasons for this classification, highlighting frequent blood splatter, enemy attacks that impale the player, cutscenes depicting gore, and intense acts of violence, as well as concept art showing a nude mannequin.
The recent Silent Hill Transmission on March 13 offered fans a glimpse into what to expect from the game, and with the ratings it has received, Silent Hill f appears to be one of the franchise's most gory and bloody entries yet.
