Capcom recently held a Spotlight and Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase, revealing significant updates for several titles. Key announcements included new details for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, a release date for Capcom Fighting Collection 2, and extensive information on Monster Hunter Wilds.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword – A 2026 Release
The upcoming Onimusha: Way of the Sword, slated for a 2026 release, focuses on compelling characters, a new protagonist, and engaging enemies. The game aims to recreate the Edo Period setting of Kyoto faithfully, emphasizing visceral sword combat. The protagonist, through a twist of fate, will wield an Oni Gauntlet, powered by the souls of defeated Genma. While challenging, the game's difficulty will be balanced for players of various skill levels.
Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny Remaster Coming in 2025
A remastered version of the 2002 classic, Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, is set for release in 2025, bridging the gap until the launch of Onimusha: Way of the Sword.
Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta 2 Details
The second Open Beta for Monster Hunter Wilds introduces the flagship monster, Arkveld, in a challenging advanced quest. Other additions include a Gypceros Hunt, a training area, and online features like Private Lobbies and Online Single Player mode. Data from the first beta will transfer, and returning content includes the Character Creator, Story Trial, and Doshaguma hunt. Cross-play will be enabled.
Beta Dates:
- February 6, 7 PM PT – February 9, 6:59 PM PT
- February 13, 7 PM PT – February 16, 6:59 PM PT
Character data transfers to the full game (February 28th release), but progress will not carry over. Participants receive a special Pendant.
Monster Hunter Wilds – Iceshard Cliffs and New Monsters
The new story trailer showcased the Iceshard Cliffs, introducing new monsters: Rove (Wudwud), Hirabami - Leviathan, Nerscylla - Temnoceran, and Gore Magala. Further details on Arkveld were also revealed.
Capcom Fighting Collection 2 Launch Date
Capcom Fighting Collection 2 launches May 16, 2025, featuring titles such as Capcom vs. SNK Millennium Fight 2000 Pro, Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001, Capcom Fighting Evolution, Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper, Power Stone, Power Stone 2, Project Justice, and Plasma Sword: Night of Bilstein.
Street Fighter 6 – Mai Shiranui Arrives February 5
Mai Shiranui from Fatal Fury joins the Street Fighter 6 roster on February 5th, as the penultimate Year 2 character. Elena will be the final addition.
