Application Description
A simple, non-field RPG where you escape a cursed forest. - Prologue - You're the village's best hunter, drawn to a national hunting tournament near the royal capital. Arriving for the opening ceremony, you camp overnight, only to awaken to find the forest eerily deserted; fellow hunters vanished, leaving behind only remnants of their camps. National guards, responsible for the tournament, are nowhere to be seen. Your attempts to return to the starting point prove futile – you're hopelessly lost. This unsettling situation is the game's starting point.
-
What is the ""? - This non-field RPG casts you as a hunter seeking escape from a cursed forest, aided by a quarter-elf. Gameplay is incredibly streamlined, using a maximum of three buttons outside the main menu.
-
Character Creation - While character customization is limited, you can freely reroll stats. Status increase rates upon leveling are only visible on this screen and cannot be checked in-game. This screen also serves as a return point. Game over occurs when your life force reaches zero and you have fewer than two "talismans".
-
Peddler Quarter-Elf "Foria" - A mysterious boy (or is he?) who aids the protagonist. Despite his childlike appearance, he claims to be older and offers assistance by harnessing the ancient forest spirits.
-
Scenario & Scene - The prologue unfolds smoothly like a picture story, with Foria's dialogue adding a cheerful counterpoint to the ominous setting. The game's world is depicted through understated, suggestive language.
-
Exploration Mode - Progress through the forest by exploring unexplored areas. The success of each exploration attempt depends on "fog depth" – a factor influenced by your character's stats. When your life force is depleted, use poison or rare "talismans" to recover, or return to Foria.
-
Beast Encounters & Hunter Battles - Wild animals, from wolves to frogs, will attack. Defeating them yields hides for trading with Foria. Unlike typical RPGs, battles don't provide experience points; the goal is escape. All battles are avoidable (though this requires luck or strategic play). As a hunter, you use a bow and arrow, requiring distance to attack safely. Maintaining distance allows for attacks without counterattacks, but closing the gap risks a one-sided assault. You can choose to withdraw, or use a "flash" ball provided by Foria for a guaranteed escape.
-
Cloak & Layering System - Craft cloaks from gathered materials (branches, resin, leather) to enhance your abilities. Up to three layers can be worn, each layer adding to the ability boost. Cloaks can also restore vitality, but are subject to wear and tear. The bow and arrow remain your only weapon.
-
About the Game - This isn't just a game; it's an experience emphasizing strategic thinking, skill, luck, and resource management (synthesis, alchemy). It's a game where preparation is key, and progress is possible even with relaxed play.
-
Autosave - The game autosaves, but not during battles. Saving your progress is recommended via the base menu before closing the application.
