Application Description

High-Quality USB Camera Viewer & HDMI Display

Transform your device into a portable display for your Camera, Gaming Console, Laptop, PC, or other devices with HDMI output using an HDMI to USB C dongle (also known as a UVC capture device or Video Capture Card, not to be confused with a USB C hub or USB C to HDMI cable). Additionally, Noir supports cameras, endoscopes, and microscopes equipped with USB streaming capabilities.

Noir offers robust support for UVC video streaming and UAC audio streaming, giving you the choice between OpenGL ES and Vulkan for enhanced graphics performance. The free version provides essential functions and an immersive experience, albeit with ads (ads are not shown during the preview). For an ad-free experience and access to advanced features, consider upgrading to the Pro version, which also helps support the ongoing development and maintenance of Noir.

FAQ

  1. Why doesn't Noir recognize my device? Your phone or tablet may not support USB Host (OTG), or the device might not be a Video Capture Card. Insufficient power supply from your device can also be an issue; in such cases, a USB hub may be necessary.
  2. Why is the preview so laggy? Lag can be due to the USB version. Ensure that both your USB data cable and the USB port on your phone or tablet match the capture card's USB version (3.0 or 2.0). For USB 2.0, stick to the MJPEG video format and don't exceed 1080p30fps (some cards may support up to 1080p50fps).
  3. Why did my capture card, which was working fine, suddenly fail to connect? System issues often cause this. A simple restart of your phone or tablet usually resolves the problem.
  4. Why does my gaming console or Video playback device show a black screen when connected? This issue is common with PS5 and PS4 due to HDCP being enabled. Disable HDCP via the PS console settings: Settings -> System -> HDMI -> Enable HDCP (turn off). PS3 does not offer this option. Other devices might automatically enable HDCP when playing video content, causing a black screen. Consider using an HDMI splitter that bypasses HDCP, though this isn't recommended here.
  5. Why are resolutions other than 16:9 and 4:3 not supported? No capture cards currently support other ratios. You can adjust the ratio through Noir's Stretch feature, but your capture card's EDID must support it, and you'll need to set your laptop or computer's output to the desired ratio.
