The PMRC Rondo Cup 2025, the latest electrifying PUBG Mobile esports tournament, concluded this past weekend with an exhilarating finale. The prestigious event saw team Yangon Galacticos emerge victorious, securing the championship title. Their triumph not only earned them the glory but also the lion's share of the impressive $20,000 prize pool generously provided by PUBG.

The tournament was set on PUBG's newest and largest map to date, Rondo. This expansive battleground hosted 16 elite teams, each having earned their spot through rigorous qualifiers such as D'Xavier at PMSL SEA Spring, Rangers at PMCL Spring, and R3GICIDE at PMSL CSA Fall. The introduction of the Rondo map added a fresh dynamic to the competition, challenging teams to adapt and strategize in new ways.

Yangon Galacticos clinched the victory under the newly implemented SMASH format rules. The innovative ruleset required teams to accumulate over 30 points and subsequently secure a win in a different match to claim the championship. However, after six intense matches, no team managed to meet these criteria. As a result, Yangon Galacticos were crowned champions due to their commanding points lead, showcasing their dominance throughout the tournament.

The competition was fierce, with HORAA Esports and Bigetron Esports securing the second and third positions, respectively. The success of the PMRC Rondo Cup underscores PUBG Mobile's ambitious esports trajectory, which has been on an upward swing since 2024. Despite the innovative SMASH rule failing to crown a winner under its conditions, its introduction sparked interest and discussion within the community. Whether this rule will make a comeback in future tournaments will depend on the organizers' assessment of its impact on fostering skilled and entertaining gameplay.
