WoW Patch 11.1 Introduces Two New Races
Summary
- Patch 11.1 in World of Warcraft introduces Breakneck D.R.I.V.E. races and Skyrocket races utilizing Goblin jetpacks.
- The Undermine zone in Patch 11.1 will not permit flying, instead using customizable cars and jetpacks for navigation and racing.
- Skyrocket races challenge players with ring collection, speed, and increased difficulty due to less reactive turning at higher speeds.
World of Warcraft's upcoming Patch 11.1, dubbed "Undermined," is set to thrill players with the introduction of two exciting new racing types: Breakneck D.R.I.V.E. races and Skyrocket races. These races will take center stage in the new Undermine zone, a sprawling subterranean metropolis that serves as the Goblin capital city. In a departure from traditional flying, Undermine will not allow conventional flight, instead featuring the D.R.I.V.E. system, a dynamic and customizable car that offers exhilarating speed across the city's streets.
Breakneck D.R.I.V.E. races are designed to maximize the potential of this new system, promising high-speed thrills through the urban landscape. Alongside these races, Skyrocket races introduce a novel racing experience using Goblin jetpacks. These races offer a unique blend of movement mechanics, distinct from both Steady flight and Skyriding. Players will navigate the skies, collecting rings to boost their speed, though this comes with the challenge of less responsive turning at higher velocities, as showcased in footage from the Public Test Realm by WoW content creator MrGM.
New Skyrocket Races in World of Warcraft Patch 11.1
In the absence of Skyriding in Undermine, Skyrocket races step in to fill the gap. Both Breakneck and Skyrocket races will feature achievements for completing races within Bronze, Silver, and Gold time brackets. Additionally, reverse versions of all four Skyrocket and D.R.I.V.E. Breakneck races will be available, although there won't be Advanced or Challenge courses as seen in some Skyriding races.
All Skyrocket and Breakneck Races in World of Warcraft Patch 11.1
Skyrocket | Breakneck |
---|---|
Skyrocketing Sprint | Breakneck Bolt |
The Heaps Leap | Junkyard Jaunt |
Scrapshop Shot | Casino Cruise |

Initial reactions to the Skyrocket races have been varied. While some players are eager to dive into this new challenge, others have expressed concerns about the jetpacks' stiff and less responsive controls compared to Skyriding. Fortunately, with Patch 11.1 still in development, there's ample time for Blizzard to refine these races before their anticipated release in February.
