Witcher 4: Ciri

In The Witcher 4, a significant shift is underway: Ciri replaces Geralt as the protagonist, sparking much anticipation regarding gameplay changes, especially combat. CD Projekt RED recently offered insights during a podcast episode.

One trailer scene showcases Ciri battling a monster using a chain—a stylish callback to The Witcher 1. However, her combat style is distinctly different. The developers highlighted this contrast:

“There was this one scene where we see the chain, which is a tribute to The Witcher 1. When she grabs the monster’s head with it and pins it to the ground, she also performs an additional flip, which was really cool because you can’t imagine Geralt doing something like that. He’s very… I’d say he’s agile, but he’s also very… he feels almost like a ‘block’ in a way—he’s bulky and heavy. And she [Ciri] is just… she’s practically like liquid compared to [Geralt].”

This comparison emphasizes the key difference: Geralt's combat relies on strength and precision, while Ciri's is fluid, dynamic, and acrobatic. Her agility introduces a thrilling new dimension to the gameplay, a stark contrast to Geralt's grounded approach.

The Witcher 4's shift to Ciri promises a faster, more fluid combat experience reflecting her unique abilities. As CD Projekt RED reveals more, anticipation builds. Will Ciri's gameplay surpass Geralt's legacy? Only time will tell!
