Here are some crucial tips we wish we'd known earlier:
Don't Randomly Attack Other Players
Screenshot by The EscapistInitially, Rune Slayer's full-loot PvP caused concern. However, death isn't as punishing as you might think. You lose nothing upon death, even if killed by another player—you simply respawn and continue your adventure. The catch? Attacking players earns you a bounty. The more kills, the larger your bounty, and the more loot you drop upon your own demise. Essentially, full-loot PvP is self-inflicted. Unless you're intentionally seeking a high-stakes battle (or have a group for backup), avoid attacking other players.
Craft Bags Immediately
Screenshot by The EscapistYou'll quickly discover your inventory and bank space are severely limited. While 50 slots might seem ample, they fill up rapidly. Fortunately, you can craft bags! Equip up to two at once, starting with the Cotton Bag. Find Cotton north of Wayshire and Flax south (be cautious of the southern mobs). Each Cotton Bag adds 10 valuable slots—craft these ASAP!
Your Pets Don't Actually Die
Screenshot by The EscapistMany players mistakenly believe their pets perish when their health reaches zero. This is false. A downed pet simply becomes unavailable for five minutes. Check the cooldown by pressing T. After the five minutes, resummon your pet using the same keybind. Bonus tip: Quickly heal your pet by storing and retrieving it at the Stable Master (you have one free slot).
Accept Every Quest
Screenshot by The EscapistRune Slayer boasts a plethora of quests, mostly unremarkable "kill X" tasks. To streamline your progress, accept every quest you encounter, including those from the job board. Often, you'll find quests conveniently combine, making for more efficient gameplay.
Craft Everything at Least Once

Join a Guild
Rune Slayer is solo-friendly, but later encounters require teamwork. Several high-health enemies are designed for group combat. The easiest way to find a group? Join a guild! Shout in general chat or use the official Rune Slayer Discord server to find like-minded adventurers.
