Bandai Namco to Shut Down PAC-MAN Mobile
Bandai Namco has announced the unfortunate shutdown of PAC-MAN Mobile, coinciding ironically with the legendary icon's 45th anniversary celebration this year. Launched over a decade ago, this version of the game has been a staple for many fans of the classic arcade experience.
When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?
The official shutdown date for PAC-MAN Mobile is set for May 30th, 2025. In-app purchases have been discontinued since April 1st, but players can continue enjoying the game until the final date. Many in the community have expressed their disappointment, wishing Bandai Namco would consider an offline version, which could still generate revenue and keep the game alive.
This iteration of PAC-MAN, once known as PAC-MAN + Tournaments, offered more than just nostalgic arcade vibes. It included the iconic 8-bit arcade mode alongside a Story Mode with numerous original mazes to navigate. Additionally, the game featured an Adventure Mode with limited-time themed events, allowing players to earn exclusive skins. The Tournament Mode added weekly maze challenges with three difficulty levels, and the game boasted a variety of skins for PAC-MAN, ghosts, and the joystick.
The Reason
Over the past few years, PAC-MAN Mobile has struggled with an accumulation of bugs and issues, likely contributing to the decision to shut it down. The game's initial launch on Android was met with excitement as players competed for high scores and leaderboard rankings, creating a vibrant community of enthusiasts.
If you're looking to experience PAC-MAN Mobile one last time before its closure, you can still download it from the Google Play Store. Don't miss out on this final chance to relive the fun.
