Konami unveiled a new trailer and shared a wealth of information about Silent Hill f. The game will delve into a narrative where protagonist Shimizu Hinkao's ordinary teenage life is upended when her town is enveloped in fog and transformed into something unrecognizable. As she navigates this changed environment, solving puzzles and battling bizarre enemies, she edges closer to a pivotal decision. The game's description teases, "This is a tale about a beautiful yet terrifying choice."

Silent Hill f offers a fresh story, ideal for newcomers, yet it includes Easter eggs to delight long-time fans. The game unfolds in the fictional town of Ebisugaoka, inspired by the real-life Kanayama in Gifu Prefecture's Gero region.

Creature and character designer kera expressed enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the influence of Silent Hill 2 on the new game. "I love the Silent Hill series, and it's been a big influence on me," kera shared. "In particular, I am constantly remembering Silent Hill 2, and the messages on the walls, the music, and the monster designs. So, when it came to Silent Hill f, and bringing the setting to Japan, we had to come up with something that felt just a little different, and I had to really think about how to get that feeling."

The challenge, according to kera, was crafting monster designs that respected Silent Hill's legacy while introducing a new direction. "The monster designs were the hardest. I had to consider everything that's come in Silent Hill before, and figure out how to take this game in a different direction, but still be Silent Hill. It might not be the exact same blood-smeared, rusting scenery, but I sincerely hope you'll enjoy our vision and the world we've created."

Music plays a crucial role in Silent Hill f, with the return of long-time Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka, joined by Kensuke Inage, known for his work on the Dynasty Warriors series. Inage elaborated on his approach, stating, "I have composed music for an unsettling yet beautiful world that uses imagery from shrines, blending ancient Japanese court music with ambient echoes. I wove in various techniques that will connect the player to the protagonist's agony, internal conflict, fear, and other emotions."

While a release date remains undisclosed, Silent Hill f is confirmed to launch on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
