Project Mugen now has an official name and teaser trailer as NetEase shows off Ananta
Ananta: NetEase's Open-World RPG Unveiled
NetEase Games and Naked Rain's previously enigmatic Project Mugen has officially been revealed as Ananta, accompanied by a new PV and teaser trailer. The urban, open-world RPG offers a glimpse into its expansive cityscape, Nova City, a diverse cast of characters, and the looming threat of chaotic forces from beyond.
The preview showcases impressive movement mechanics, hinting at potentially fluid traversal across the city's streets and rooftops. While comparisons to MiHoYo's titles, such as Zenless Zone Zero, are inevitable, Ananta aims to distinguish itself, particularly through its unique movement system. The game retains the blend of charming characters and dynamic combat prevalent in modern 3D RPGs.
Dynamic Movement and Exploration
The PV highlights impressive character movement, leaving open the question of whether exploration will be limited to instanced areas or allow for truly free-roaming, Spider-Man-style traversal of Nova City.
While similarities to MiHoYo's Genshin Impact are apparent, Ananta seeks to forge its own identity within the crowded 3D gacha RPG market. Its success hinges on its ability to stand out from the competition and potentially challenge the current genre leaders.
