Pokémon TCG: Destined Rivals Preorders Live - Top Tips to Secure

Author : Sarah Update : Apr 13,2025

Get ready, Pokémon TCG fans! The highly anticipated Destined Rivals set is on the horizon, and I’m already clearing shelf space and trying to convince myself I won't splurge on yet another Elite Trainer Box. This set not only brings back the beloved Trainer's Pokémon but also reintroduces Team Rocket for some thrilling villainy, all wrapped up in some of the most stunning card art we’ve seen in a while. Whether you're a collector of shiny cards or just love the thrill of wielding cardboard power, Destined Rivals is set to captivate you.

The Pokémon Center website recently underwent some intriguing "maintenance" and now has preorders available. If you miss out there, keep an eye on Amazon, Target, Best Buy, and other major retailers, where listings should go live soon. It’s time to refresh those pages like it's Black Friday for Pokémon battle decks! Here’s everything you need to know to secure your preorder this week.

When Does Destined Rivals Officially Launch?

--------------------------------------------

Mark your calendars for May 30, 2025, the official release date for Destined Rivals. That’s when you can expect all sealed products to ship and hit store shelves, though stock might be limited due to ongoing shortages. The Pokémon Company is working hard to address these issues. From May 17 to 25, select stores will host pre-release events with Build & Battle boxes and early access tournaments. Contact your local league store to participate—perhaps with a friendly bribe of snacks.

What Products Will Be Launching With This Set?

----------------------------------------------

We all tell ourselves we'll just buy one item and stick to it. And while we're at it, we might as well claim we’ll hit the gym three times a week. Let's be honest, we're all fibbing a bit, and that's okay.

When Destined Rivals launches, you can get your hands on:

  • Booster Packs
  • Booster Boxes (36 packs)
  • Elite Trainer Box
  • Pokémon Center Exclusive Elite Trainer Box
  • Booster Bundle (6 packs)
  • Triple-pack blisters
  • Build & Battle Box
  • Build & Battle Stadium

There’s also a high chance of special collection boxes featuring alternate art promos, particularly with characters like Cynthia, Misty, Ethan, or Marnie. You might not need them, but you’ll definitely convince yourself otherwise.

Destined Origins Cards I’ve Got My Eye On

-----------------------------------------

I can already see myself filling multiple binders with these cards, but a few have already claimed a spot on my mental wishlist.

  • Cynthia’s Garchomp ex is the epitome of power and strategy. With its ability to deal massive damage and draw cards, it exudes the confidence of a true Champion. I need three of these.
  • Ethan’s Ho-Oh ex combines utility with a dazzling aesthetic. Its ability to accelerate Fire Energy and heal your team while dealing 160 damage is simply breathtaking. I’m already in love.
  • Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex is all about drama and flair. It won’t attack unless you’ve built a full Rocket-themed deck, but when it does, it manipulates energy like a hyper Gengar. Its extravagance is something I deeply admire.
  • Misty’s Psyduck is here to bring joy and perhaps a few laughs, even if it might cost you a game. Its ability to discard itself to the top of your deck is quirky and endearing. I’m all in.
  • Marnie’s Grimmsnarl ex embodies the essence of a villain with its aggressive Dark-type strategy. It thrives on energy acceleration and disruption, and I’m ready to relive the glory days of 2020 with this card.
