Palworld Dating Sim Confirmed: Not an April Fools' Joke, Says Developer

Author : Isabella Update : Apr 14,2025

Developer Pocketpair has exciting news for fans of their hit game Palworld, as they've announced Palworld! More Than Just Pals, a new dating sim set within the beloved monster-catching universe. Announced on March 31, this isn't an April Fools' Day prank, despite the timing raising some eyebrows among the gaming community.

Pocketpair is keen to dispel any doubts, confirming that Palworld! More Than Just Pals is a legitimate project. The concept originated from their 2024 April Fools' Day jest, which initially presented the idea as a humorous fake. Now, it's becoming a reality, set to launch on PC via Steam at a yet-to-be-announced date.

This dating sim introduces a unique twist to the Palworld universe, inviting players to step into the shoes of a transfer student at Palagos Private Academy. Here, players can forge friendships and romantic connections with a diverse cast of student Pals, including characters like the enigmatic Katress and the shy Chillet, both familiar names from the original game.

The official description from Pocketpair sets the stage: "You, the protagonist, enroll as a transfer student in the prestigious Palagos Private Academy. You will meet unique friends (pals) and enjoy school life through friendship and romance. It's up to you whether you stay friends with the pals, develop romantic relationships with them, or even dismember and eat them."

Amidst the excitement, Pocketpair's Palworld continues to thrive, marking its one-year anniversary in January with ongoing development and updates. The latest patch introduced crossplay support, Blueprint upgrades, a photo mode, and more, keeping the community engaged as they await the launch of Palworld! More Than Just Pals. Meanwhile, fans holding out for a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Palworld have a glimmer of hope, though if that doesn't materialize, they can at least look forward to potentially seeing the dating sim on the console in the future.
