MGS Delta: Snake Eater Retains Original's Suggestive Content, Rating Indicates
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will retain the suggestive and sexual content from Metal Gear Solid 3, including the controversial Peep Demo Theatre, according to an age rating by the ESRB. While Konami has not officially confirmed the inclusion of this content, the ESRB has rated the game Mature 17+ due to its depiction of realistic gunfire, cries of pain, bloody combat, and "suggestive/sexual content."
The ESRB's detailed report highlights the game's realistic violence and combat, including scenes where characters are subjected to severe brutality such as being beaten, electrocuted, shot in the eye, and set on fire. Additionally, the report notes the presence of suggestive and sexual content, such as scenes involving a man groping a woman's breasts, close-up camera angles focusing on deep cleavage, a character briefly groping a man's crotch, and the Peep Demo Theatre. This feature, which was an unlockable extra in the Subsistence and HD Collection versions of the original Metal Gear Solid 3, allows players to view cutscenes of a female character in her underwear from a first-person perspective, and is unlocked after completing the game four times.
Konami has announced that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be released on August 28. A new teaser trailer also confirmed the return of the Snake vs. Monkey minigame. In our Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater preview, IGN described the game as "more like a very shiny HD remaster than the elegant remake it could have been," noting its beautiful yet almost overly faithful approach to the original. The review also mentioned the addition of a new first-person perspective. The original Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater received an impressive score of 9.6 from IGN.
