Gotham Knights Might be One of Nintendo Switch 2’s Third-Party Titles
Gotham Knights: A Potential Nintendo Switch 2 Title?
Speculation is swirling that Gotham Knights could be among the third-party titles launching on the Nintendo Switch 2. This intriguing possibility stems from a game developer's resume.
A January 5, 2025 report by YouTuber Doctre81 highlighted a resume listing Gotham Knights as a project for two yet-to-be-released platforms. The developer, employed by QLOC from 2018 to 2023, also listed work on titles like Mortal Kombat 11 and Tales of Vesperia. The inclusion of Gotham Knights, particularly its association with unreleased platforms, has fueled the speculation.
One platform could be the original Nintendo Switch; the game received an ESRB rating for the system. However, performance issues on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S might have hindered a port. The listing of a second unreleased platform strongly suggests a release on the upcoming Nintendo console.
It's crucial to note that neither Warner Bros. Games nor Nintendo has officially confirmed this. However, with the Nintendo Switch 2 being the only major, unreleased console currently anticipated, the possibility remains compelling.
Past Hints and the ESRB Rating:
Initially released in October 2022 for PS5, Windows, and Xbox Series X, Gotham Knights was briefly rumored for the original Switch following an ESRB rating. This fueled speculation and predictions of a Nintendo Direct announcement. However, the game never materialized on the original Switch, and the ESRB rating was subsequently removed. This past event, coupled with the recent YouTube report, adds weight to the Switch 2 speculation.
Nintendo Switch 2: Backwards Compatibility and Official Announcements:
Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa tweeted on May 7, 2024, promising further details on the Switch's successor "within this fiscal year," meaning before March 2025. A later tweet confirmed backward compatibility with original Switch software and Nintendo Switch Online. The use of physical cartridges remains unconfirmed.
