Fortnite Update Adds Fan Favorite Items to OG Battle Royale
Fortnite's Latest Update: A Blast from the Past and Festive Fun!
Fortnite's newest update delivers a nostalgic treat for players, bringing back beloved items like the Hunting Rifle and Launch Pad. This follows a recent hotfix for the OG mode, which also reintroduces classic favorites such as the Cluster Clinger. December's updates are jam-packed, combining the return of these fan-favorite items with the annual Winterfest event.
Winterfest has arrived, blanketing the island in snow and introducing event quests, along with new additions like Icy Feet and the Blizzard Grenade. Players can expect a wealth of rewards from the Cozy Cabin, plus premium skins featuring Mariah Carey, Santa Dogg, and Santa Shaq. But the festivities don't stop there; Fortnite continues its streak of exciting collaborations, this time including Cyberpunk 2077 and Batman Ninja. And the OG mode is receiving some love too.
A recent, smaller hotfix for Fortnite has proven surprisingly exciting for veteran players. The OG mode welcomes back the Launch Pad, a Chapter 1, Season 1 classic. This iconic traversal tool, predating other movement options, allowed players to gain a tactical advantage or make a swift escape.
Fortnite Revives Classic Weapons and Gear
- Launch Pad
- Hunting Rifle
- Cluster Clinger
The Launch Pad isn't the only returning item. The Hunting Rifle (originally from Chapter 3) makes a comeback, providing long-range combat options, especially welcomed by those disappointed by the absence of sniper rifles in Chapter 6, Season 1. Chapter 5's Cluster Clingers also reappear in both Battle Royale and Zero Build modes.
The resurgence of these classic weapons and items has fueled the success of Fortnite OG. An impressive 1.1 million players joined the mode within its first two hours. Alongside the game mode, Epic launched an OG Item Shop, offering classic skins and items for purchase. However, the return of ultra-rare skins like the Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper has generated mixed reactions among the player base.
