Final Fantasy VII Remake Trilogy Nears Completion

Game director Hamaguchi recently provided an update on the highly anticipated sequel, urging fans to exercise patience as new details will be revealed at a later date. The team is diligently working on the project, he assured.

Hamaguchi highlighted the success of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in 2024, noting its numerous awards and global player engagement. This success fuels their ambition to broaden the FFVII fanbase with unique challenges in the upcoming third installment.

Interestingly, Hamaguchi also mentioned being impressed by Grand Theft Auto VI this year. He expressed his admiration for the Rockstar Games team, acknowledging the immense pressure they face following GTA V's phenomenal success.

Specifics regarding the third game remain undisclosed; however, Hamaguchi offered reassurance that development is progressing smoothly. Given the recent release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth less than a year ago, this news is encouraging. He emphasized that players can expect a truly unique experience.

Despite this positive outlook, Final Fantasy XVI's May 2024 launch sales underperformed, falling short of initial projections. Exact sales figures remain unannounced. Similarly, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth's sales also fell below expectations, although Square Enix clarified that they do not view the results as a complete failure. The company remains confident that Final Fantasy XVI can still meet its targets within the allotted 18-month timeframe.
