Set in a captivating fantasy world inspired by "Belle Epoque France," Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 now has a confirmed release date, announced by Sandfall Interactive during Xbox's Developer Direct. Mark your calendars for April 24, 2025, when this game will launch and be available on day one with Xbox Game Pass.

The Xbox Direct highlighted how Sandfall Interactive's developers have meticulously crafted the game, reimagining classic turn-based combat with innovative twists.

Pre-order options are now open, with the base game available for $44.99 and the Deluxe Edition for $59.99 on the Xbox Store. Both editions come with a 10% discount on Steam and PS5, priced at $44.99 and $53.99, respectively. The game is currently available for wishlisting on the Epic Games Store.

The Steam discount will end on May 2, 2025, and the PlayStation discount is available until the game's release date at 3:00 PM (local time), but PS5 players need a PlayStation Plus subscription to avail of this introductory price.

Monoco, the team's "friendly and bloodthirsty Gestral," thrives on combat and views it as a meditative practice. This unique character can transform into defeated enemies, adding a dynamic layer to combat by harnessing the abilities of vanquished foes. Unaffected by the Paintress’s power, Monoco eagerly anticipates the battles ahead.

Esquie, a living legend and considered the oldest and strongest being in the world, plays a crucial role in exploration. While less active in combat, Esquie enables the team to access various locations across an expansive open-world map. Collecting Esquie's special stones is key to unlocking new abilities and reaching previously inaccessible areas.

The other playable characters, introduced on October 16, 2024, via a YouTube video, include Gustave, Lune, Maelle, Sciel, Renoir, and Verso. Despite their differing personalities and motivations, they have united with a common goal to end the cycle of death.

Players can also unleash devastating attacks by pressing specific buttons. This reactive turn-based system ensures an engaging experience, with adjustable difficulty settings to cater to players of all skill levels.

The game also boasts deep character customization. Each character features unique mechanics and skill trees, such as Lune’s ability to accumulate "Stain" to enhance her abilities. Players can evolve "Pictos," modifiers linked to equipment, into permanent "Luminas" after four battles, offering extensive ways to tailor each character.
