Deadlock Characters | New Heroes, Skills, Weapons, and Story

Deadlock, the highly anticipated MOBA shooter from Valve, continues to evolve. A few months post-launch, and boasting six new experimental heroes, the game's roster expands significantly. This article delves into these fresh additions, detailing their unique skills, weaponry, and intriguing backstories.

Deadlock's "10-24-2024" Update: Six New Heroes Enter the Fray

New Roster Additions, Skill Adjustments, and Name Changes

Since its mid-2024 release, Deadlock has consistently topped Steam's most wishlisted games. The recent major update, however, surpasses all previous patches. Six new playable characters are now available, though currently limited to the Hero Sandbox mode for testing purposes before integration into regular and ranked PvP matches.

These newcomers—Calico, Fathom (formerly known as Slork), Holliday (also referred to as Astro in some skill descriptions), Magician, Viper, and Wrecker—represent a diverse range of combat styles. It's worth noting that some skills are still temporary placeholders, using existing abilities from other heroes as stand-ins – for example, Magician's ultimate is currently a copy of Paradox's Paradoxical Swap.

Below is a summary of each hero's current capabilities and potential battlefield roles:

Hero Description
Calico A nimble, stealthy mid-to-frontline hero, specializing in unseen attacks and evasive maneuvers.
Fathom A short-range assassin, designed for aggressive, all-in engagements and swift elimination of key targets.
Holliday A mid-to-long-range DPS/Assassin; her strength lies in precise headshots and explosive weaponry.
Magician A tactical, long-range DPS capable of projectile manipulation, teleportation, and swapping positions with allies or enemies.
Viper A mid-to-long-range burst assassin who inflicts poison damage over time, culminating in enemy petrification.
Wrecker A mid-to-close range brawler; Wrecker utilizes troopers and NPCs, converting them into scrap and projectiles for their attacks.
