Breaking: Nintendo Announces Closure of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is Closing its Doors – But Not Entirely!

You read that right! Nintendo has announced the end of service (EOS) for the popular mobile game, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, leaving many players surprised. The online services will officially shut down on November 28th, 2024, just days after its seventh anniversary on November 21st.

The Shutdown Details:

  • November 28th, 2024: Online services end at 7:00 AM PST. No more Leaf Tickets, no more Pocket Camp Club memberships.
  • October 28th, 2024: Auto-renewal for Pocket Camp Club memberships ceases. Existing memberships will not be refunded, but players will receive a commemorative badge.
  • November 26th, 2024: Last day to purchase Leaf Tickets.

A Silver Lining: Offline Play Awaits!

While online features are ending, Nintendo plans to release a paid offline version of the game. This version will lack online interactions like Market Boxes, gifting, and visiting friends' campsites. However, players will retain their saved progress and enjoy the core gameplay experience without an internet connection. More details on this paid offline version are expected around October 2024.

Nintendo's Mobile Game Strategy:

This closure follows a pattern of Nintendo gradually phasing out its mobile titles. Games like Dr. Mario World and Dragalia Lost have already been shut down, and Mario Kart Tour is currently in maintenance mode. Therefore, the decision regarding Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp isn't entirely unexpected.

If you wish to enjoy the game's remaining online days, download Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp from the Google Play Store. Stay tuned for our upcoming coverage of Netflix's Monument Valley 3.
