Alienware Aurora R16 RTX 4090 Gaming PC Now Under $3,000

High-end prebuilt PCs often come with hefty price tags, but savvy shoppers can save hundreds of dollars by snagging a fantastic deal. Currently, Dell is offering a remarkable discount on the Alienware Aurora R16 equipped with a GeForce RTX 4090, bringing the price down to just $2,899.99 after a $1,000 instant discount. This is the first time in months that an RTX 4090 gaming PC has been available for under $3,000. With RTX 4090 graphics cards seeing a price hike, purchasing a standalone card could cost you at least $2,000 from a reputable seller, making the DIY route less cost-effective than you might expect. Additionally, opting for a prebuilt PC grants you the benefit of an all-inclusive warranty.

$3,699.99 save 22% $2,899.99 at Alienware

This Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC boasts an Intel Core i9-14900KF CPU, a GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 32GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 2TB NVMe SSD. The 14th gen Intel Core i9-14900KF is currently the top Intel gaming CPU and excels in productivity tasks as well. Known for running hot, it's effectively cooled by a robust 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler. The system is powered by a 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.

The RTX 4090 stands as the most powerful GPU available, outpacing all competitors from both NVIDIA and AMD. In his review, Chris Coke remarked, "The RTX 4090 may be huge and expensive, but holy smokes if it doesn’t blow the competition out of the water... Until the rest of the pack can catch up, between its impressive hardware specs and its DLSS 3 AI wizardry, even the $1,599 price doesn’t seem unreasonable for the unrivaled frame rates that this card can crank out." With this GPU, you can enjoy any game at 4K resolution with ultra settings and ray tracing enabled, delivering high framerates even in the most demanding new titles like Black Myth: Wukong or Warhammer Space Marine 2. The 4090 is also the preferred consumer card for AI applications, thanks to its 24GB of GDDR6X VRAM.

A note on RTX 5000 series GPUs

NVIDIA's next generation of GPUs, the RTX 5000 series, is slated to launch starting at the end of January. The RTX 5090 is expected to be more powerful, but at a significantly higher cost, with the Founder's Edition priced at $2,000 upon release. Availability might be limited. The RTX 5080 will launch at $999, but it too may face supply constraints. We'll soon benchmark this card, but it will come with less VRAM than the 4090 (16GB vs 24GB) and may not fully eclipse the 4090's performance.

A note on Alienware's newest "R16" desktop chassis

The R16 represents Alienware's 2024 desktop PC design, which is 40% smaller in volume than its predecessors. It features an efficient airflow system, drawing air through side intake vents over the GPU and a 120mm front fan, and expelling it via a 120mm rear fan and two 120mm top fans. The 240mm radiator for the all-in-one liquid cooling system is mounted to these top fans. While some configurations omit the liquid cooling system, we typically recommend those that include it due to the superior performance over Alienware's stock air cooling. Note that Dell unveiled a new Area 51 chassis at CES 2025, but it closely resembles the R16 in appearance and design.
