Next Witcher Game Unveiled, Details Emerge
The Witcher saga continues! Nearly a decade after the critically acclaimed Witcher 3, CD Projekt Red has unveiled the first trailer for The Witcher 4, starring Ciri as the protagonist.
As many fans remember, Ciri is Geralt's adopted daughter. With Geralt's trilogy concluded, the spotlight shifts to the next generation. The trailer depicts Ciri intervening in a village's disturbing ritualistic sacrifice, revealing a far more complex situation than initially apparent.
While a release date remains unannounced, considering the development times of Witcher 3 (3.5-4 years) and Cyberpunk 2077, a 3-4 year timeframe for Witcher 4 seems plausible, given the early stage of production.
Platform exclusivity hasn't been confirmed, but a next-gen-only release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC is anticipated. A Switch port, unlike Witcher 3, appears unlikely, though a potential Switch 2 release remains a possibility.
Gameplay details are scarce, but the CGI trailer hints at returning elements like potions, signs, and spells. A new addition might be Ciri's chain, used for both combat and magic.
Voice actor Doug Cockle confirmed Geralt's presence in the game, albeit in a supporting role, fueling speculation of a mentor-like figure.
