Warner Bros. Shuts Down Mortal Kombat: Onslaught After One Year
Warner Bros. Games has announced the closure of Mortal Kombat: Onslaught, a decision made almost exactly one year after its debut. The mobile game was officially removed from the Google Play Store and App Store on July 22nd, 2024. This article delves deeper into the shutdown of Mortal Kombat: Onslaught.
As of August 23rd, 2024, all in-game purchases will be disabled. However, players can continue to engage with the game until October 21st, 2024. After this date, the servers will be shut down, marking the end of Mortal Kombat: Onslaught.
The exact reasons behind the termination of Mortal Kombat: Onslaught have not been disclosed. Nevertheless, the recent closure of NetherRealm's mobile games division, which also handled Mortal Kombat Mobile and Injustice, may suggest a larger strategic shift impacting other titles developed by the same team.
What About In-Game Purchases?
Players who have made in-game purchases might be concerned about the fate of their investments. Unfortunately, NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. have not yet provided details on refunds for in-game currency and customization items. They have, however, promised to release more information soon. Keep an eye on their official X (formerly Twitter) account for the latest updates on refunds.

Instead, it combines intense combat with a cinematic storyline, reminiscent of free-to-play mobile MOBAs. The game's narrative focuses on thwarting the fallen Elder God Shinnok from regaining his power, with assistance from Raiden and your fighter squad.
