The Staff of Ice, a unique Wonder Weapon in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, boasts a surprisingly potent upgraded form, crucial for high-round survival and Easter egg hunts. Its base version pales in comparison. This guide details the upgrade process on The Tomb map.

Prerequisites:

Before upgrading, you'll need the Staff of Ice itself. Acquire it via the Mystery Box or by collecting its three components. Early access to the Dark Aether Nexus, achieved by opening the Door to Nowhere, is vital.

Upgrade Steps:

Step 1: Freezing Dark Aether Crystals

Freeze three Dark Aether Crystals rapidly using the Staff of Ice. These crystals reside within glowing purple lanterns in The Tomb's underground sections. Perks like Stamin-Up and PHD Flopper (with Tribologist) significantly aid this step by boosting movement speed. Optimize your route; consider waiting a few rounds for favorable lantern spawns. A suggested route begins in the main tomb area, proceeds to the Shrine of the Hierophants, and finishes at the Subterranean Temple entrance. Ensure at least one of the pictured lanterns is active. Success triggers a quote from Archibald, signaling your readiness for the Dark Aether Nexus.

Step 2: Targeting Floating Runes

Within the Dark Aether Nexus, locate three floating rocks bearing glowing purple Runes. Each Rune displays a unique symbol. Record these symbols. Use the Staff of Ice to shoot each Rune. This may require precision; a sniper rifle can assist. Shooting a Rune lowers the rock, making the symbol easier to identify. The order of shooting is inconsequential.

Step 3: The Rune Symbol Puzzle

After Step 2, a stone wall replaces a portal back to the main map. Locate the corresponding area on the map; you'll find a wall with Runic symbols. Shoot the three symbols matching those you noted in the Dark Aether Nexus using the Staff of Ice. The portal will open (regardless of accuracy), but incorrect selections result in a mid-air Dark Aether Nexus drop. Multiple failures may necessitate waiting for the next round. Correct selections place you on a floating rock with a purple orb. Interact with it.

Step 4: Orb Escort

The activated Orb begins moving. Kill zombies near it; their essence fuels its progress. Guide the Orb to the central structure in the Dark Aether Nexus, where it forms a small purple portal. Interact with the portal to upgrade your Staff of Ice into Ull's Arrow.
