Ubisoft Discreetly Releases A New NFT Game
Ubisoft quietly launches a new NFT game: Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E.
Ubisoft's latest venture into the NFT gaming space, Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E., requires players to purchase an NFT to participate. Eurogamer broke the news on December 20th.
This top-down multiplayer arcade shooter expands the universe of the Netflix series, Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, and features familiar Ubisoft IPs. The game is limited to 10,000 players, each requiring a unique Citizen ID Card, an NFT purchased for $25.63 via Ubisoft's claim page. This card tracks player achievements and evolves based on in-game performance. Players can even resell their IDs.
The full game launch is slated for Q1 2025, with early access for those who've already secured their Citizen ID Cards.
A Netflix Series Inspired by Far Cry 3's Blood Dragon DLC
Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, the Netflix series that inspired the game, is an animated spin-off of Far Cry 3's Blood Dragon DLC. Set in a 1992 alternate reality where the US is a megacorporation-controlled technocracy called Eden, the series follows Dolph Laserhawk, a supersoldier turned rebel. The game shares this universe, placing players as citizens of Eden, with their actions influencing the game's narrative through missions, leaderboard rankings, and community engagement.
