DC Comics announces Superman Unlimited, a new monthly series debuting May 2025, bringing renowned Marvel writer Dan Slott back to DC. Slott, celebrated for his work on The Amazing Spider-Man, She-Hulk, and Fantastic Four, returns to DC after a two-decade Marvel exclusivity. This marks a significant comeback, following earlier contributions to DC titles like Arkham Asylum: Living Hell and Batman Adventures.

The series pairs Slott with artist Rafael Albuquerque (American Vampire) and colorist Marcelo Maiolo. Slott expressed his lifelong ambition to craft Superman narratives, emphasizing both the character's extraordinary abilities and his inherent goodness. He promises surprising storylines involving Superman, Lois Lane, supporting characters, classic villains, and new adversaries.

Superman Unlimited introduces a perilous new reality. A Kryptonite asteroid shower leaves the planet saturated with Green K, empowering Intergang and other foes with Kryptonite-enhanced weaponry. Superman must develop innovative technology and combat strategies to counter this threat. Simultaneously, Clark Kent faces a transformed Daily Planet, resulting from its merger with Morgan Edge's Galaxy Communications, creating a global media giant.

DC group editor Paul Kaminski compares the series' impact to that of Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness's Superman/Batman in the early 2000s. Superman Unlimited promises thrilling, large-scale adventures, while also significantly impacting the broader DC Superman universe through the introduction of a massive Kryptonite deposit. Kaminski envisions a world where even minor crimes are amplified by Kryptonite-based weaponry, presenting unprecedented challenges for Superman and his allies. He contrasts this with the Justice League Unlimited series, highlighting the shift from unlimited heroes to unlimited, Kryptonite-empowered villains.
