In a heartwarming pledge to his dedicated fanbase, Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone, the mastermind behind the beloved farming simulator/RPG Stardew Valley, has vowed to keep all future updates and downloadable content (DLCs) free of charge. Barone's commitment was shared via a heartfelt post on Twitter (X), where he not only updated fans on the ongoing development of various ports and the next PC update but also reaffirmed his dedication to the community.

"The ports and next PC update are still in progress. I know it is taking a long time, it's on my mind every minute. I have personally been working on the mobile port every day. I will announce when there is any meaningful news (e.g., a release date). Hope you're having a good summer," Barone shared, showing his continuous engagement with the game's development.

In response to a fan's comment about keeping everything free, Barone made a solemn promise: "I swear on the honor of my family name, I will never charge money for a DLC or update for as long as I live." This powerful statement not only reassured fans but also underscored Barone's integrity and commitment to providing value to his players without additional costs.

Since its launch in 2016, Stardew Valley has seen numerous updates that have enriched the gaming experience. The latest update, version 1.6.9, introduced three new festivals, the ability to have multiple pets, expanded home renovation options, new outfits, additional late-game content, and various quality-of-life improvements. These updates showcase Barone's dedication to keeping the game fresh and engaging for its community.

Barone's promise might extend beyond Stardew Valley, as he is also working on a new game titled Haunted Chocolatier. Though details about this project remain sparse, fans eagerly await further announcements.

As the sole developer of Stardew Valley, Barone's statement reflects his deep respect and empathy for the gaming community. He even humorously encouraged fans to "screencap this and shame me if I ever violate this oath," ensuring that players can continue to enjoy new and engaging content without worrying about additional expenses, even seven years after the game's initial release.
