Space Marine 2 Dev Quashes Live Service Concerns

The developers of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 have addressed player concerns regarding recent community events perceived as promoting "fear of missing out" (FOMO). These events offered limited-time cosmetic items, a tactic often criticized for fostering unhealthy gaming habits and encouraging excessive spending in live-service titles. While Space Marine 2 doesn't feature loot boxes, the events sparked backlash, leading some to label the game as a "live service" title.

In response to this criticism, Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive clarified their intentions. They acknowledged the negative feedback and confirmed that all items currently available through these events will be made available to all players at a later date. Their statement emphasizes that the events were intended to offer early access to cosmetics for dedicated players, not to create frustration. They apologized for the shortcomings and are working on streamlining the item acquisition process.

To demonstrate their commitment, Focus Entertainment is gifting the coveted emblem-less Mk VIII Errant Helmet to all players who link their PROS account to Space Marine 2. This helmet was previously only obtainable by completing the Imperial Vigil community event, which concludes on March 3rd.

The upcoming 7.0 update will introduce a new weapon, map (for Operations mode), and PvE Prestige Ranks, addressing previous concerns about content scarcity. Space Marine 2, which achieved record-breaking sales with over 5 million copies sold, continues to receive updates and improvements based on player feedback.
