Sims Original Games Resurface for 25th Anniversary

Author : Jack Update : Feb 19,2025

To celebrate The Sims franchise's 25th anniversary, EA and Maxis have delivered a fantastic surprise: The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 are back on PC! Available now are The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection, also bundled together for $40 in The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle.

These releases include nearly all expansions and stuff packs for both games. The Sims 2: Legacy Collection notably omits the 2008 IKEA Home Stuff pack, but otherwise boasts complete content. Both collections even include bonus content: The Sims 1 receives a Throwback Fit Kit, and The Sims 2 gets a Grunge Revival Kit.

PlayThis marks the first time in over a decade that both games have been readily accessible digitally. The Sims 1 was originally only available on disc, making it nearly impossible to acquire for modern systems. While The Sims 2 had a brief resurgence in 2014 via an Ultimate Collection on Origin, that version was later removed. These new collections ensure all four main Sims titles are now easily obtainable digitally.

Our original reviews awarded The Sims 1 a 9.5/10 and The Sims 2 an 8.5/10. Despite the series' advancements, the originals retain their charm, offering a simpler, yet challenging and nostalgic experience.

The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection are available now on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the EA app.
