The trailer highlights Ratatan's unique blend of rhythm roguelike action, merging rhythm game elements with side-scrolling action. A key feature is the online co-op mode, allowing up to 4 players to join forces. Players can command up to 100 characters in epic melee battles, adding depth and excitement to the gameplay.

Developed by Hiroyuki Kotani, the creator of Patapon, and featuring music by original Patapon musician Kemmei Adachi, Ratatan has captured significant attention. Its Kickstarter campaign, launched in 2023, successfully met its console launch stretch goal, ensuring a release on various consoles.

Closed Beta Begins on February 27, 2025

According to their Kickstarter update, Ratatan is set to launch its closed beta on February 27, 2025. Ratatan Producer Kazuto Sakajiri shared insights into the game's progress and upcoming milestones.

Sakajiri announced that Ratatan has surpassed 100,000 wishlists on Steam and received positive feedback on the Ratatan Original Soundtrack Demo. However, the game will not be featured at the upcoming Steam Next Fest, as the team is focusing on enhancing the demo for the June Steam Next festival.

During the closed beta, players can expect to access Stage 1 initially, with Stages 2 and 3 being added throughout the test period, which will span approximately a month. Sakajiri noted that "The distribution of codes, start date, and time will be announced via Discord and X as soon as they are confirmed."

Ratatan is slated for release in 2025 across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. While no specific release date has been announced, anticipation continues to build for this exciting successor to Patapon.
