Introducing the Pokémon GO Safari Ball

Long-time Pokémon fans will recognize Safari Zones from the main series games. These special areas allowed catching rare Pokémon without battles – a feature Niantic is recreating with the Wild Area event.

Pokémon GO hasn't seen many new Poké Ball additions. We're used to the standard Poké Ball, Great Ball, Ultra Ball, Premier Balls, and the coveted Master Ball. The Safari Ball changes the game.

The Wild Area event runs globally from November 23rd to November 24th, 2024, ending at 6:15 pm local time. Important note: Unused Safari Balls vanish from your inventory after the event concludes.

During the event, the Safari Ball becomes your primary tool for capturing powerful Pokémon. Niantic's decision to introduce the Safari Ball in a new event, rather than the usual Safari Zone or City Safari events, adds an element of intrigue.
