Pokémon GO's New Year's Celebration: A Festive Extravaganza!

Get ready to celebrate the start of 2025 in Pokémon GO! The annual New Year's event returns, running from December 30th, 2024 to January 1st, 2025. This exciting event features themed bonuses, special Pokémon encounters, and a host of ways to ring in the new year in style. Following the December 21st-22nd Community Day event, featuring returning Community Day Pokémon, this New Year's event promises even more festive fun.

One of the event's highlights is the increased XP reward: catch Pokémon with Excellent Throws to earn a whopping 2,025 XP each! Enjoy the immersive atmosphere with festive decorations and celebratory fireworks illuminating the skies.

Expect increased appearances of special, festively-dressed Pokémon. Keep an eye out for Jigglypuff with a ribbon, Hoothoot in a New Year's outfit, and Wurmple sporting a party hat – and don't forget to look for their Shiny variants!

Raids are also getting a festive makeover. One-star raids feature a snowflake-hat-wearing Pikachu, while three-star raids bring party-hat-adorned Raticate and Wobbuffet. All three have boosted Shiny rates during the event.

For those who prefer quests, complete Field Research and Timed Research tasks for additional Pokémon encounters. A paid Timed Research ($2) offers exclusive rewards, including three Premium Battle Passes, three Lucky Eggs, 2,025 Stardust, and encounters with event Pokémon.
