"Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller Halves Charging Time"

Author : Liam Update : Apr 26,2025

Gamers, get ready to cut your charging time in half with the new Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller. As highlighted by Nintendo Life, Nintendo has recently revealed the tech specs for this upgraded $84.99 accessory. You'll be thrilled to know it now takes just about three-and-a-half hours to fully charge, a significant improvement over the original model's six-hour charge time, when using the Nintendo Switch 2 AC adapter or the USB-C charging cable.

Even better, this quicker charge time doesn't compromise the controller's impressive battery life. The Pro Controller 2 maintains the fantastic 40-hour playtime between charges. Plus, it introduces the new C button, adds two additional GL/GR buttons on the underside, and comes in a slightly lighter and smaller package than its predecessor.

If you're not ready to let go of your original Pro Controller, no worries—Nintendo has confirmed that the original controller will be compatible with the new console system.

Nintendo unveiled the Switch 2 during a 60-minute Nintendo Direct earlier this month. Although pre-orders were initially scheduled to open in early April in the U.S., due to tariff-related uncertainties, the date was pushed back to April 24. Despite the delay, Nintendo has decided to maintain the $449.99 price for both the Switch 2 console and its games, though they've raised prices on most Switch 2 accessories, with the Switch 2 Pro Controller increasing from $80 to $85.
