NieR: Automata - Where To Get Pristine Screws
Quick Links
Acquiring certain crafting materials in NieR: Automata proves significantly more challenging than others. While not visually indicated, some resources, such as Pristine Screws, are exceptionally rare.
Although purchasable from Emil, his stock fluctuates, making direct acquisition from machines a potentially more efficient and cost-effective alternative. Below are two farming methods for Pristine Screws.
Where To Find Pristine Screws in NieR: Automata
Goliath-Bipeds, the largest non-boss machines, drop screws. Pristine Screws are the rarest variety. Higher-level Goliath-Bipeds yield a higher drop rate; early-game acquisition is practically impossible.
Several locations reliably spawn Goliath-Bipeds. The arena where Adam is first encountered is one such spot, also ideal for farming Machine Arms. However, the Goliath-Bipeds here are around level 30, resulting in a low Pristine Screw drop rate. The advantage is their constant respawn, allowing for rapid farming despite the low drop rate.
Alternatively, during the third playthrough, fast travel to the Forest Castle: Front access point. Two level 49 Goliath-Bipeds guard the entrance, offering a better drop chance. However, they don't respawn; you must repeatedly fast travel to a distant location and return.
Both methods benefit from using a drop-rate-enhancing plug-in chip.
Optimal Farming Strategy
The best method depends on two key factors:
- Load times: Your game and system's loading speed significantly impacts the Forest Castle method's efficiency.
- Patience: Farming Pristine Screws requires patience. The Forest Castle method, while offering a higher drop rate, involves frequent loading screens, minimizing actual gameplay. If this isn't a concern, choose this method. For continuous gameplay and concurrent material/XP farming, the pit offers consistent action.
