"Metro 2033: Guide to Cursed Station"
Even though Metro 2033 was released over a decade ago, it remains a beloved title in its series, gaining renewed interest with the launch of the VR-exclusive Metro Awakening. This game marks the beginning of Artyom's journey, set mainly in Moscow's underground tunnels. The "Cursed Station," known as Turgenevskaya in both the books and reality, introduces players to their first anomalies. Players then embark on a challenging mission alongside Khan, aiding a group of survivors against relentless nosalis attacks.
This mission has proven to be tricky for many players due to unclear instructions and a potentially confusing station layout. After witnessing an anomaly decimate a nosalis horde, Khan and Artyom use a railcar to reach the next station, where the "Cursed" mission begins. Upon exiting the railcar, follow Khan through the tunnel and around the corner to join the defenders at the barricaded escalators.
Where To Find The Bomb
After speaking with the defenders, they reveal that an explosives team ventured into the tunnel to detonate it and block the nosalises' path. However, the team vanished, and no explosion was heard. Your task is to locate the bomb and set it off. Be prepared for constant nosalis attacks throughout the mission. As Khan advises, retreat to the defenders for support if overwhelmed. You'll likely need to return to them at least once while searching for the bomb.
The bomb is located at the far end of the right-hand tunnel. Avoid proceeding past the ghostly shadows, as this will harm you. Once you have the bomb, either head directly into the adjacent tunnel or retreat to the defenders if the enemy numbers are too high.
How To Destroy The Tunnel
With the bomb in hand, proceed deep into the left-hand tunnel (from the defenders' perspective) to trigger a cutscene. Artyom will automatically set the bomb and light the fuse, but you must escape the blast zone quickly to avoid death. Run as far as possible from the explosion area.
Alternatively, you can throw a grenade or pipe bomb into the same tunnel section to cause it to collapse. Remember, even after destroying the main tunnel, nosalises may still find other ways to enter, so remain vigilant and keep your weapon ready.
How To Destroy The Airlock
After destroying the left-hand tunnel, you must secure the station by collapsing an airlock to prevent further mutant intrusions. Khan and the defenders mention this airlock during their initial conversation. To reach it, climb the stairs on the right side of the main platform to the area lit by torches. You may encounter nosalises here, but you can ignore them.
To destroy the airlock, approach the support columns and interact with them. Artyom will place a pipe bomb with a lit fuse. As with the tunnel, evacuate the area immediately to avoid the large explosion. Once both entrances are destroyed, follow Khan to the next mission phase in a small shrine room. After a brief dialogue, Artyom will descend through a floor panel, leading into the next story mission, "Armory."
