Author : Nora Update : Mar 22,2025

From the iconic 1970s *Incredible Hulk* series to the popular *Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.*, and the gritty Netflix shows introducing characters like Daredevil and Luke Cage, Marvel Comics has a rich history of inspiring small-screen adaptations. Past attempts to connect these live-action shows to the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) often faltered—remember *Runaways* and *Cloak and Dagger*? But 2021 marked a turning point. Marvel Studios launched a new era, flooding Disney+ with interconnected series deeply tied to its blockbuster film franchise.

With the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man swinging onto our screens as the 13th Disney+ Marvel show in just four years, we're taking a look back at the preceding Marvel Studios television offerings. Like the Avengers enjoying shawarma after the Battle of New York, the IGN Marvel experts have ranked all 12 Disney+ Marvel shows to date. Stay tuned for *Spider-Man: Freshman Year*'s addition after its completion.

12. Secret Invasion

Disney+
It's surprising to say, but *Secret Invasion* received largely negative feedback, ranking as the worst Marvel TV series yet for many. While the comic book event is monumental, the show seemingly disregarded this. Director Ali Selim's admission of not reading the comics, while sometimes beneficial, didn't work here. The series aimed for the espionage tone of *Captain America: The Winter Soldier*, following Nick Fury's fight against a Skrull invasion. However, slow pacing, an AI-generated opening, the unfortunate death of a beloved character, and a forgettable new superhero landed it at the bottom.

11. Echo

Disney+
A significant improvement over *Secret Invasion*, *Echo* still sits at 11th. Alaqua Cox reprises her role from *Hawkeye*, portraying the deaf Cheyenne superhero as she navigates her powers, past, and relationship with her adoptive father, Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio). A shortened episode count left some wanting more. Despite this, the series boasts impressive action sequences, including a standout fight with Daredevil. Its groundbreaking representation of Indigenous creatives both on and off-screen is also noteworthy.

10. Moon Knight

Disney+
The Oscar Isaac-led *Moon Knight* might surprise some at this ranking. The series explores the multiple personalities of Marc Spector, mixing mystery, mayhem, and surrealism reminiscent of *One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest*, *Indiana Jones*, and even Fox's *Legion*. While introducing a standout character in Scarlet Scarab (May Calamawy) and boasting a strong cast including F. Murray Abraham and Ethan Hawke, it failed to resonate enough for a higher ranking or a second season.

9. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Disney+
Despite high expectations, *The Falcon and the Winter Soldier* struggled to take flight. Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan's chemistry was well-received, but the series was hampered by ambiguous morality, heavy reliance on the Blip storyline, and a focus on espionage over action. Production delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic likely impacted the final product. Nevertheless, its narrative elements are crucial to understanding the current MCU, notably influencing this year's *Thunderbolts* film.
